Peters Pool Walk (Franz Josef Glacier)

This is a stunning walk that provides spectacular views of the Franz Josef Glacier. The walk takes you through native bush resounding with fantails and bell birds. After walking through the native bush you come to a clearing and Peters Pool. There is the most amazing view of the glacier and the pool reflects this scene. This is by far the best view I have ever had of the glacier. In the past I have tried to walk up the Glacier Forest Walk on my crutches to see the glacier and was always a bit disappointed, as I couldn’t walk far enough for the best view. Peters Pool is just spectacular. Don’t get overly enthusiastic like we did and try to go further along the track thinking that it might be a loop as it becomes very steep and narrow and is not designed for wheelchairs!
