Andrew and Anna are a brother and sister team who worked together for a year to travel throughout the South Island to research the most interesting walks to include in this book.

An alpine climber and keen tramper Andrew has extensively explored the South Island. He has recently climbed Mt Aspiring and when time and weather permit he spends time in the Mt Cook National Park, and has climbed many peaks in the Southern Alps including Mt Cook. His next climbing goal is to tackle an overseas peak in the Himalayas. Andrew is in this third year of physiotherapy training at Otago University. He is married to Kirstin and based in Dunedin. Andrew and Kirstin have travelled to India where they did some trekking in Ladakh in the Indian Himalayas; they plan to go back at some stage to do more exploring.

Anna has a mobility impairment and experiences the world via crutches and her wheelchair called Porsha. She has a Masters of Business Studies in Communications and has worked in various communication roles at the Department of Justice and MidCentral Health.

She currently works as the Awareness Education and Community Development Co-ordinator for CCS Otago. Anna is very involved with the Disabled Persons Assembly, which focuses on promoting the rights for disabled people; she recently helped organised a protest about equal access to bus transport in Dunedin. Anna enjoys travelling and has spent 3 months backpacking across Europe and Italy with a friend. Anna and her husband Bruce have recently travelled up the South Island to Karamea.
